WHAT I DO

I see folks who want to see their lives change

To be in their own skin with more ease

To feel comfort and trust in relationship

I support folks in new uses of their attention

To have new experiences and choices

To escape from being stuck and blocked

We engage in liberation, together.

WHO I AM

My name is Zack Anglin, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I earned a Master of Science in Social Work in 2021, after a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2015, both from the University of Texas here in Austin. I've worked with adults of all ages: many just getting started in life, many wrapping up their time here, and lots in between. I have experience with folks of various races and ethnicities, personal and cultural backgrounds, income levels, abilities, and sexual and gender identities. I've worked with people brand new to individual or couples counseling, folks with experiences in therapy in the distant past (some positive, some negative), folks with extensive experience in therapy, and folks transitioning from other therapists.

While most of my clients have been individuals, I have an abundance of experience working with couples. I've worked with partners who have been together for decades; with engaged couples and newlyweds; with non-monogamous relationships, hierarchical and non-hierarchical alike; and even with new relationships. I've had couples seek me out who feel stable and easeful in their relationship and just want a place to check in and see their dynamic become even better; relationships rocked by infidelities or old wounds, who are trying to move forward together; couples who feel stuck in blame, or feel things are out of whack and just want to see things be different; and couples who want support through breaking up. I've worked extensively with high-conflict couples, non-confrontational couples, and everyone in between.

As for me, I'm a part of several recovery fellowships and the LGBTQIA+ community. I've been learning Spanish for several years and aiming to one day be proficient enough to offer counseling in Spanish (not there yet!). I'm a lifelong musician, born and raised in Texas, and I honestly think my favorite hobby is just having real conversations with people.

HOW I WORK

My approach is person-centered: I recognize the effects of how I show up, and I adapt to do more of what is easing you toward your goals and less of what isn’t. We figure it out together.

My theoretical orientation — in other words, my understanding of how the mind and heart work, and how growth and healing happen — is rooted in secular Buddhist psychology and enriched by attachment theory.

While Acceptance & Commitment Theory guides my work with individuals, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy informs my work with relationships, I have studied and received training in several other approaches and schools of thought as well, including CBT and DBT, elements of internal family systems, existential psychotherapy, narrative therapy, somatic and polyvagal theories, systems theory, conflict theories, and self-determination theory.
